Squiggle Story - The Niboofareackoo

On a sunny Saturday morning in Egypt there was a pyramid. There was nothing peculiar about the pyramid apart from one thing. There was NO door. Well, maybe two things. Every Saturday morning the whole entire country or land would be covered with a tremendous and frightening NIBOOFAREACKOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would wake everyone up because it goes on from 5 am in the morning to 12 pm at daytime!! Surely there is nothing more hideous than that! Then out in the open, a thundercloud rolled over town. A lightning bolt hit the pyramid and it burst open to show the rarest and scariest animal ever known on earth. Everyone started screaming so surprisingly hard that the whole town, country, land, earth, world, universe and much much much much much more but I don't think I could, should or will mention the rest of that. The only thing that the strange and crazy animal said was NIBOOFAREACKOO!! So they called it the NIBOOFAREACKOO!!
P.S. Just so you know, it is a cross between a Bunny, Dog, Person, Duck and Cow.

The day Giraffes had stripes and Zebras had spots

On October the 26th 2011 on Saturday, three 7 and 8 year old children went to the Buckworth animal zoo. Their names were: Charlie, Charlotte and Chrystal. They were certainly very excited. Their favourite animals there were the Giraffes and Zebras. The patterns they wore were fascinating! Spots and stripes! But the three children were silly. . . and naughty . . .

Because they adored those two animals so much they went straight through the whole zoo over to the Giraffes and Zebras. As the watched the amazing animals, Charlie started to form a ridiculous plan in his head. He led the girls to a quiet spot in between some bushes. Chrystal and Charlotte thought the plan was very cheeky and weren't sure if they should do it. But with Charlie as persuading master it wasn't long before they agreed to do it.

As Charlotte, (the oldest) went to buy some paint, Chrystal and Charlotte plotted out how to get over the animal cage. When Charlotte came back, she found them crouched down in the bushes, whispering quietly and looking up every now and then. Slowly and carefully but noisily, she tiptoed over to them. When they shared their plan with Charlotte, she agreed and they set their plan into action.

As Chrystal lowered a rope down the fence into the cage, Charlotte climbed down it and carried the paint down with her. Charlie slid down with some paint brushes. Chrystal tied the rope up and lowered herself down into the cage. Immediately, they began to put their plan into action. Chrystal climbed up a tall tree with a paintbrush and paint. She started to paint the neck of a giraffe Black and White stripy. Charlie went to paint a giraffe yellow and brown spotty. Charlotte, on the other hand, was stretching out her hands far above her head, painting long and thick lines on MR giraffes legs. After three whole hours, they completed their horrible deed.

Once they were up on the bridge above the cage, the three children were face to face with a blood boiling angry Buckworth zoo keeper. All around them were people who were very confused, angry, surprised, concerned, bewildered etc etc. Still, they stood in front of the frustrated zoo keeper. She shooed them out of the zoo pushing and shoving the children. Then she went to her desk and thought about how to get the animals back to normal. Suddenly, she had a thought. . .

Straight away, she sprinted as fast as possible over to the entrance of the zoo. Just as she had hoped, the children were panting and nervously shuffling back into the zoo. "Wait!!" panted the zoo keeper, "I have a solution for the mistake! Come to my office with me and I'll explain it." So the four of them walked together walked together hurriedly to the office. Her idea was to give each of the animals a humongous shower with the help of a tree so that all of the paint flakes would fall off and the animals would turn back to normal.

So Charlie, Chrystal and Charlotte all agreed and set the zoo keeper's plan into action. Charlie climbed up a tree and got passed the shower tube. When he got it working Charlotte and Chrystal got into their togs and started scrubbing with big squishy foam sponges. When foam sponges get wet, they start producing soap and it cleans the animal!! With every giraffe and zebra, they had to give five showers and each shower had to be twenty minutes.

When the three of them had completed their deed and turned it into a good deed (NOT LEFT THE ANIMALS LIKE THAT!) they returned to the zoo keeper. She thanked them and gave each of them a little chocolate heart. Then she let them all leave and so they did and lived happily ever after. And this is the day the giraffes had stripes and zebras had spots.

Own Homemade Riddles

1. I am a pet,
I am reasonably small,
I have another animal in my name,

I eat like a bunny but that I am not,
What am I?

2. From them I get presents,
They love each other so,
One of them got laughed at,
One got to guide one night,
Who am I?

3. I get worn at night in winter,
I come in many different shapes and sizes,
Usually I am quite fluffy and make you feel cozy,
I am bigger then other clothing,
What am I?

4. I carry lots of stories,
I am scanned and learned from,
I am recycled and used to protect special things,
I am carried, thrown, folded, pushed and turned over,
What am I?

5. I am an instrument,
I have strings,
I am small,
I don't need any accessories,
What am I?

6. I am oily,
I come in different colours,

I grow in the sun on a tree,
I am a healthy food,
What am I?

7. You take me to school,
I carry your books,
Most of you don't use me anymore,
You definitely used me on the junior side,
What am I?

8. I am used as decoration,
I can be a reward,
I'll brighten up your day,
I grasp anything I'm on,
What am I?

9. I am what I am,
Some adore me,
Some dislike me,
Some wonder why you made me,
What am I?

10. I am round,
I turn in a cycle,
Many call me home,
I hold many wonders,
What am I?

2016 YR 5's!!!

Dear 2016 year 5's,
In 2016 you will nearly be the oldest of the school!! Cool as, right? Well, year five is a great level, but there are some things that you need to be serious about. You will have lots and lots of activities to look forward to. You will definitely have a younger buddy class, and get really cute and small buddies!! You will have to have more responsibility and accountability for your learning and work to finish.

First of all, responsibilities. In 2016 you will be allowed to choose if you want to do Bridging the Gap. This is, as I sort of said, not compulsory. Bridging the Gap is when you get to go to the Junior side and look after the juniors. The options are: Duty Kids, Play Monitors or looking after certain kids that struggle in school. In 2015, some of the really good people at Mandarin had to sit a test. Now, I'm not sure if it will be in 2016 as well, but just maybe! Have you seen year 6's wearing badges? That is because in year 6 you get to have a job. As year 5's next year, you will have to write a letter to the year 6 teachers for which jobs you want. Your options are: Sports Committee, Librarian, House Captain, Student Council and Road Patrol. For all of these jobs you need to show great responsibility.

All of that is cool, but now to the seriously fun stuff!!!!! As you might have had Scooter safety in year 4, in year five we get to do Bike Safety! This is when somebody comes in and instructs you and tells you how to be safe on the bike. Then they set out a course on the field for you to complete on the bike. I bet you, you'll find it fun!! As usual there will be trips. In year 6 there is such thing as Water Wise. In year 5 you have to do a test to see if you are allowed to do it. If you would be safe in the water and if you are capable to do it. There will be you're last year of GTT. (Garden to Table). But wait! I've saved the best for last. EOTC week!!! That stands for Education Outside The Classroom week. Unfortunately, the 2015 year 5's didn't get to camp out but . . . You might be lucky! EOTC week is such a fun thing!! I'm not going to spoil it for you though.

Overall, in year five you get to have fun, need responsibilities and get to do lots of activities.
Good Luck all of you!!!
Yours sincerely,
Hannah

2015 End of year reflections

Overall, from this year I have definitely enjoyed having Miss Cooper. EOTC week was a memorable time of the year for me. I have so much more to list though. I am looking forward to the Netherlands and the snow!! There are going to be lots of cheeses and different licorice types. I have improved a lot in writing. Now I enjoy it! I think I have gone higher in reading because I have done many more tests and nearly made it to nr 20. There are too many best parts in this year. Thank you Miss Cooper!!
