2016 YR 5's!!!

Dear 2016 year 5's,
In 2016 you will nearly be the oldest of the school!! Cool as, right? Well, year five is a great level, but there are some things that you need to be serious about. You will have lots and lots of activities to look forward to. You will definitely have a younger buddy class, and get really cute and small buddies!! You will have to have more responsibility and accountability for your learning and work to finish.

First of all, responsibilities. In 2016 you will be allowed to choose if you want to do Bridging the Gap. This is, as I sort of said, not compulsory. Bridging the Gap is when you get to go to the Junior side and look after the juniors. The options are: Duty Kids, Play Monitors or looking after certain kids that struggle in school. In 2015, some of the really good people at Mandarin had to sit a test. Now, I'm not sure if it will be in 2016 as well, but just maybe! Have you seen year 6's wearing badges? That is because in year 6 you get to have a job. As year 5's next year, you will have to write a letter to the year 6 teachers for which jobs you want. Your options are: Sports Committee, Librarian, House Captain, Student Council and Road Patrol. For all of these jobs you need to show great responsibility.

All of that is cool, but now to the seriously fun stuff!!!!! As you might have had Scooter safety in year 4, in year five we get to do Bike Safety! This is when somebody comes in and instructs you and tells you how to be safe on the bike. Then they set out a course on the field for you to complete on the bike. I bet you, you'll find it fun!! As usual there will be trips. In year 6 there is such thing as Water Wise. In year 5 you have to do a test to see if you are allowed to do it. If you would be safe in the water and if you are capable to do it. There will be you're last year of GTT. (Garden to Table). But wait! I've saved the best for last. EOTC week!!! That stands for Education Outside The Classroom week. Unfortunately, the 2015 year 5's didn't get to camp out but . . . You might be lucky! EOTC week is such a fun thing!! I'm not going to spoil it for you though.

Overall, in year five you get to have fun, need responsibilities and get to do lots of activities.
Good Luck all of you!!!
Yours sincerely,
Hannah
